So much has happened since my last article. We’re still in the midst of a pandemic but things are starting to reopen, and now we’re also in the midst of the Black Lives Matter movement. There’s a lot going on.

Between all the Zoom meetings, listening and learning, work, family time, FaceTiming and biking on my Peloton, sometimes I just need a moment to rest and relax. One of my favourite ways to get some relaxation and enjoyment into my everyday routine is to listen to podcasts. They’re a great way to learn new things, hear fresh perspectives and receive information in a relaxing way. Today I’m sharing some of my faves.

Podcasts – is there any media that’s more 2020?

Podcasts are engaging, accessible and more popular than ever. It’s no mystery why.

There are podcasts about every topic you could imagine and they offer an in-depth dive into the minds of some incredible hosts and guests. There’s truly a podcast for everyone.

Podcasts are also perfect for our multitasking and fast-paced lifestyles. I love listening to them while I walk, exercise, drive, cook and clean.

They’re also an accessible and fun way to learn new things or simply to entertain yourself.

I ❤️ podcasts!

Here are some of my favourite podcasts:

✨ The Productive Designer – you saw this one coming! Quick plug 😁 The Productive Designer is my personal podcast and it’s designed for my fellow interior design professionals. This podcast provides the support you need to intentionally design your life and your interior design business. I’ve got some great guests and we discuss the good, the bad and the ugly of being an interior design entrepreneur.

✨ BizChix Podcast– speaking of entrepreneurship, I absolutely love the BizChix Podcast. It’s run by Natalie Eckdahl, a business strategist and high-performance coach, and is designed for high-achieving, entrepreneurial women ready to take their business to the next level. Female entrepreneurs, don’t miss this one!

✨ This American Life – this is a classic podcast and is always a pleasure to listen to. Each week, it has a different theme and it’s full of stories that fit within the theme. It’s educational, it’s entertaining and it’s always interesting.

✨ The Daily – this is a great podcast for keeping up with world news and events. Billed as “The biggest stories of our time, told by the best journalists in the world,” it always offers a comprehensive breakdown of the top headlines of the day.

✨ 99% Invisible – an excellent choice for design nerds, architecture buffs, art lovers and anyone who loves to know how things work. 99% Invisible is all about learning new things about the places we live. Fascinating!

✨ The Life Coach School– hosted by Brooke Castillo, this is my go-to resource for better understanding the necessary skills and mindsets to best serve my clients and to get them the results they seek. There are always amazing tools offered to manage thoughts, emotions, actions and therefore results.

✨ Business of Design – hosted by Kimberley Seldon, this is a top podcast for interior design professionals, and it always delivers with field-tested, actionable advice. Don’t miss this one if you’re in the business of design!
