I love Christmas and the holiday season. It’s a great time to slow down, connect with family and friends, eat and drink festive food, and be grateful and merry.
I do love all of the decorations and lights, too. Decorating for the holidays just feels bright and beautiful. I always drive my kids around the neighbourhood to check out all of the gorgeous lights.
Holiday decorating is fun but it’s also easy to go overboard. I mean… boughs of holly, jingle bells, mistletoe, ribbons, wreaths, tinsel, trees, bulbs, ornaments, twinkly lights, snowmen and sometimes even Santa Clauses and Rudolphs.
I’m a big fan of keeping holiday decor fresh, somewhat minimalist yet totally chic. This is also a great way to take some of the stress out of the holiday season, while also getting to enjoy a beautiful home.
Here are my top tips for chic, stress-free decor this holiday season:
Keep it Natural
Evergreen wreaths, boughs of holly, mistletoe and pinecones are festive and low-cost. Win win.
Match Your Home
If the home or model you’re decorating already has a theme (say rustic or modern), stick with it.
Pick a Palette
All white and silver? Faded pastels? Or everything goes with a rainbow of colours?
Have Some Fun
Make it fun! Include a unique piece that you love or vintage decorations.
