I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: a big part of my work as an interior design professional is knowing where to scrimp and where to save. If you save on items that it’s easy to get affordable but high-quality versions of (like glassware, textiles, rugs and accent tables), that leaves you more of the budget to spend on items that really make a difference in a home or sales centre.
One of those items is flooring. Today I’m diving into flooring including some of the most popular types today and why it’s important to invest in quality.
Don’t Scrimp on Flooring!
A major trend in interior design right now is vinyl flooring (check out my article all about vinyl flooring). It’s durable, economical and super stylish. One of vinyl flooring’s many benefits is that it’s affordable, but that doesn’t mean it’s a place to scrimp. High-quality vinyl flooring, like TORLYS’ LVP (luxury vinyl plank), is well worth the investment
Other popular flooring materials these days tell the same story. Spending the extra money to ensure quality, durability and aesthetic style is always worth it. From hardwood to stone floors to porcelain tiles (wood-look and marble-look porcelain are huge right now) to terrazzo to engineered wood, flooring is a smart place to invest.
Why? For starters, flooring is the foundation of a space, whether it’s a home or a sales centre. It needs to look good and to match the style of the space. It also needs to be durable and long-lasting, because flooring is not something that you want to be replacing often. When it comes to such a key element of design, it’s wise to invest in the best materials you can afford.
