3 Tips to Pull Off Last-Minute Holiday Decor

Share

Did you catch my last LinkedIn article? I covered all of my top tips for decorating for the holidays without spending a lot of money, time or energy. My tips were all about keeping it chic and stress-free. (Missed it? Click here.)

But if you still haven’t decorated, or your home’s not quite ready for the sea of guests and family members this holiday season? Then today’s article is for you! Read on.

If you’re hosting a get-together at your home this year – a cocktail party or family dinner, perhaps – you may be feeling overwhelmed at the idea of getting your home ready for said gathering. You want your home to be sparkling clean, super festive and looking its very best.

Don’t stress. Read on for my top 3 tips to get your home holiday- and guest-ready in no time.

✨ Tip #1: Declutter!

Instead of focusing on deep cleaning your home before your guests arrive, focus on decluttering. This can make all the difference in how inviting your home feels, and will make festive decorations and accents stand out more – even if they’re minimal.

Be ruthless! Don’t worry about following Marie Kondo’s rules. You can just shove things in a closet or drawer for now 😂

✨ Tip #2: Focus on the main guest hot spots

Your guests will gravitate to your living or family room and your kitchen. They’ll also of course see your front entryway and/or porch, and your bathroom. Focus your festive touches on these areas and forget the rest.

✨ Tip #3: Use seasonal scents

This is a quick cheat to get your home feeling festive in no time – and it’s quicker than extensive decorating! I love pine, orange or vanilla scented candles, cinnamon sticks simmering in a sauce pan, or fresh baking to fill the home with delicious holiday scents. Yum!

I wish you a warm and happy holiday season, full of joy! Happy New Year too, and I’ll see you in 2020! Thanks for reading.
