Chic Holiday Décor: Your go-to Christmas Decor

I love Christmas and the holiday season 😍 It’s a great time to slow down, connect with family and friends, eat and drink festive food, and be grateful and merry.

I do love all of the decorations and lights, too. Decorating for the holidays just feels bright and beautiful. I always drive my kids around the neighbourhood to check out all of the gorgeous lights.

Holiday decorating is fun but it’s also easy to go overboard. I mean… boughs of holly, jingle bells, mistletoe, ribbons, wreaths, tinsel, trees, bulbs, ornaments, twinkly lights, snowmen and sometimes even Santa Clauses and Rudolphs.

I’m a big fan of keeping holiday decor fresh, somewhat minimalist yet totally chic. This is also a great way to take some of the stress out of the holiday season, while also getting to enjoy a beautiful home. Below are tips to nail this Christmas look!

Top Tips for Stress-Free Decor

Keep it Natural

Evergreen wreaths, boughs of holly, mistletoe and pinecones are festive and low-cost. Win win.

Match Your Home

If the home or model you’re decorating already has a theme (say rustic or modern), stick with it.

Pick a Palette

All white and silver? Faded pastels? Or everything goes with a rainbow of colours?

Have some fun

Make it fun! Include a unique piece that you love or vintage decorations.

No time to shop? Here’s our Last-Minute Holiday Décor Tips

The holiday season has certainly snuck up on us! Christmas is less than 2 weeks away. The city is in full-blown holiday mode 🎄 You’ve probably already been to some get-togethers, festive parties and gatherings.

Are you hosting a get-together at your home this year – a cocktail party or family dinner, perhaps?

Feeling overwhelmed at the idea of getting your home ready for said gathering? You want your home to be sparkling clean, super festive and looking its very best ✨

Don’t stress. Read on for my top 3 tips to get your home holiday- and guest-ready in no time.

✨ Tip #1: Declutter!

Instead of focusing on deep cleaning your home before your guests arrive, focus on decluttering. This can make all the difference in how inviting your home feels, and will make festive decorations and accents stand out more – even if they’re minimal.

Be ruthless! Don’t worry about following Marie Kondo’s rules. You can just shove things in a closet or drawer for now 😂

✨ Tip #2: Focus on the main guest hot spots

Your guests will gravitate to your living or family room and your kitchen. They’ll also of course see your front entryway and/or porch, and your bathroom. Focus your festive touches on these areas and forget the rest.

✨ Tip #3: Use seasonal scents

This is a quick cheat to get your home feeling festive in no time – and it’s quicker than extensive decorating! I love pine, orange or vanilla scented candles, cinnamon sticks simmering in a sauce pan, or fresh baking to fill the home with delicious holiday scents. Yum!
